River and sea ships are loaded with different goods – this must be done quickly, safely and with optimum utilization of the available loading space. Depending on the type of product to be loaded – bulk goods, bags or a combination of both – different loading systems are used. SMB ship loading systems can be installed as stationary systems or as mobile loading devices on rails that run along the quayside. They are flexibly adaptable to different requirements and are also suitable for use in demanding climatic conditions.

  • The advantages at a glance

       •    Port times are shortened
       •    Individual adaptation to conveyor systems
       •    Optimal utilization of waterways
       •    Minimized insurance costs
       •    Minimization of transport damage
       •    Transportation costs are reduced

Background

The faster a ship is loaded, the shorter the waiting times and the more cost-effective the transport. The use of helical or cascade chutes reduces the risk of damage to goods and increased insurance and transport costs. The ship loading facilities can be realized from 5,000 dwt to 90,000 dwt with a loading capacity of up to 3,500 t/h.

Possible loading types:

Bulk material loading:
Cascade chutes optimize the flow speed of the bulk material so that the grain size remains largely undamaged. The resulting dust is "caught up" in the wake of the sliding goods. If the bulk material can create dust-explosion-prone areas or if dust emissions must be minimized, the use of an encapsulated dust extractor is recommended. Depending on the bulk material, a slinger belt can be used at the end of the chute.

Bag loading
The boom arm, which includes a conveyor belt, can swing over the ship with a length of more than 30 meters. At the outer end of the boom arm, the helical chute hangs vertically as the central element of the bag loading system. It transports the bags exactly into position in the loading area. Optionally, the chutes can be equipped with a central rotary plate at the end for the uniform orientation of the bags. The usage of a 1- to 3-stage telescopic conveyor belt as well as a completely telescopic spiral chute is possible.

Combined loading
In the combined loading system for bags and bulk materials, helical and cascade chutes are mounted on the same boom arm. The loading can optionally be carried out for bags or bulk materials.
